SILENCE IS NOT AN OPTION!

On Sunday 29 October at 7.30pm (AEDT), around 1,500 people came together from across Australia and the world to speak up against Antisemitism.

Lord John Mann and Sharri Markson led an informative, empowering, and unifying discussion on giving Antisemitism the boot on and off the field.

Giving Antisemitism the BOOT – on and off the field. Our esteemed expert panel featured Lord John Mann - Antisemitism Advisor to the UK Government, and Sharri Markson - Award-winning Journalist, Presenter, and Author. Hear how as individuals and as a community, we can all work together to combat antisemitism.

 

With the alarming rise in antisemitism and Jewish hate crimes in recent days in Australia and around the world, we all have an important role to play. Antisemitism affects us all! RIGHT NOW, silence is not an option!

 

Maccabi plays a vital role in connecting our Jewish community through our Maccabi LIFE program, and our Speaker Series sessions raise and provide an opportunity to discuss the important issues of the day that affect our Jewish way of LIFE.

 

As the recognised National roof body for Jewish Sport & Wellbeing, we work hard to protect our members and Jewish community from antisemitism, through advocacy, dialogue, and our Maccabi National Integrity & Governance Program.

 

Through our Give Antisemitism The Boot campaign, together we will learn and discuss how we can harness the power of our family and your family, work together collectively as a unified team, and combat antisemitism on and off the field.

In July 2019, UK Prime Minister Theresa May appointed Lord John Mann as a government advisor on antisemitism. In September 2019, Mann announced that he was taking up a full-time role as the UK government's antisemitism advisor. Mann was the architect of a powerful campaign that involved a collaboration with the English Premier League – drawing on the power of sport to Kick Antisemitism out of the UK.

 

Mann has described antisemitism as "the worst of racisms" and chaired the All-Party Parliamentary Group against Antisemitism.

Sharri Markson is the host of the Sky News program – Sharri, which is aired Monday to Thursday at 5pm. She is a two-time Walkley Award winner, the recipient of the 2018 Sir Keith Murdoch Award for Excellence in Journalism, a winner of four Kennedy Awards – for Journalist of the Year – Her list of awards is extensive making her one of Australia’s most respected investigative journalists. . As a passionate supporter of Israel she has tirelessly campaigned against Antisemitism.
